Envirobrine™ and Envirobrine+™ Liquid Melting Agent

Reed  Systems has reentered the business of supplying liquid melting agents.  Our new product is called ENVIROBRINE™ AND ENVIROBRINE +™.

We have procured a source of high quality brine that has been tested to give excellent results.  During the winter of ‘02/’03, it was used in Northern Quebec at temperatures down to –30F and performed very well.

This brine, a mixture of calcium chloride, sodium chloride, magnesium chloride and potassium chloride, is pumped from an ancient, naturally occurring source 3000’ below the Earth’s surface.  Because the source is estimated to be 400,000,000 years old and is naturally occurring, it is very stable and does not contain suspended solids that would cause handling problems at cold temperatures.  It has been field tested to –30F and did not cause pumping problems.  No solids were observed settling out of the solution.  Because it comes from a naturally occurring source, the brine does not contain heavy metals or chemicals that would present an environmental liability.

We have also procured an organic corrosion inhibitor which when added to our brine reduces the corrosion of the brine by 80%.  The rigid Pacific Northwest Snow Fighters specification requires a 70% reduction of corrosion for acceptance for use.  The organic melting agent used to inhibit corrosion is also an excellent melting agent that enhances the melting capability of the brine.  It also helps the mixture stick to salt particles or to the road when used for liquid anti-icing.  This is ENVIROBRINE+™.

SOIL STABILIZER - ENVIROBRINE™, because of the blend of natural salts, is also a powerful soil stabilizer for gravel roads and pavement sub-base.  When applied at the rate of one gallon per square yard, it results in a deep stabilization that allows excellent compaction of the road base.  Because it is a strong melting agent, it protects the road base from the expansion and re-compaction caused by the freeze thaw cycle thereby extending the life of a pavement structure.

When applied at rates from .2 to .5 gallons per square yard, it is an excellent dust palliative.

By using ENVIROBRINE+™ the stabilized road can be treated to reduce the exposure of vehicles to corrosion.  The organic corrosion inhibitor also adds to the natural salts of the mixture, adds fiber agent that helps bind the road surface and colors the surface of the road a deep natural brown.
